Gender Action for Peace and Security - GAPS

Gender Action for Peace and Security is an expert working group of peace and development NGOs, academics and grassroots peace builders. Building on UNSCR 1325, GAPS promotes, facilitates and monitors the meaningful inclusion of gender perspectives in all aspects of UK policy and practice on peace and security. GAPS was formally established in 2006 and was registered in 2008. The network currently has thirteen working members including IANSA.

The Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) is one of the world’s leading institutions in the areas of security sector reform (SSR) and security sector governance (SSG). DCAF's partners include governments, parliaments, civil society, international organisations and the range of security sector actors such as police, judiciary, intelligence agencies, border security services and the military.
NGO Working Group (NGO WG) on Women, Peace and Security

The NGO WG was formed in May 2000 to advocate for a United Nations Security Council resolution on women, peace and security. Following the unanimous adoption of SCR 1325 in October 2000, the group began the work of pressing for its full implementation. IANSA is a member of the NGO WG.
United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW)

UN-INSTRAW promotes an interactive dialogue between civil society, governments and international organizations through the creation of networks and the continual dissemination of gender-related information. The Institute has created networks, working groups and other associations of practitioners and stakeholders on various issues, including gender and security sector reform, ending violence against women, women’s political participation, gender and remittances and other issues.

The Violence Policy Center (VPC) approaches gun violence as a public health issue, advocating that firearms be subject to health and safety standards like those that apply to virtually all other consumer products. Guns and tobacco are the only two consumer products for which there is no federal health and safety oversight.
