24 May 2010

PeaceWomen is pleased to announce the launch of the new upgraded website The website will provide a user-friendly online platform to access information and exchange resources on women, peace and security. The website also offers an increased level of interactivity where users can submit their own documents and updates and can create a MyPeaceWomen profile.

PeaceWomen advances the mission of WILPF by monitoring and advocating for the rapid and full implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security and related women, peace and security commitments - including Security Council Resolutions 1325 (2000) and the subsequent resolutions 1820 (2008); 1888 (2009); and 1889 (2009).

The 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security in October 2010 offers an opportunity for Member States, the United Nations, and civil society to work together to ensure that concrete, measurable, and positive action is taken to empower and protect women in conflict situations.

PeaceWomen aims to use our website to further these efforts and promote accountability in the lead up to October and beyond this anniversary. The new website provides simplified navigation, classification of content (by women, peace and security theme; by topic; by country/region), and advanced search functions.
