Geneva Conference Conclusions - Women, Peace and Security: from Resolution to Action

On 15-16 September 2010 the European Union (EU) and Belgium held an event in Geneva, Switzerland on 'Women, Peace and Security: from Resolution to Action' to discuss the Protection agenda under UN Security Council Resolution (SCR) 1325.

The Conclusions of the consultation highlight shortcomings in the implementation of SCR 1325, and makes recommendations to the EU and UN Member States including:

Paragraph 10: Ensure gender responsiveness of UN-supported Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration of Ex-Combatants programs and Security Sector Reform initiatives; working with men and women, boys and girls and addressing their specific needs, including gender dimensions of violence among ex-combatants.
