NGO WG: Monthly Action Points for the UN Security Council - July 2011

06 July 2011

As a member of the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security, we are pleased to share the July 2011 Monthly Action Points (MAP) for the UN Security Council.

For July 2011, in which Germany has the Security Council presidency, the MAP provides recommendations on country situations including: Afghanistan, Cote d'Ivoire, Sudan, South Sudan, and West Africa and Sierra Leone. The July MAP also points to necessary steps in the Council's implementation of its Women, Peace and Security commitments.

Germany’s stated priorities as an elected member of the Security Council include the situation in Afghanistan; its chairmanship of the Al Qaeda and Taliban Sanctions Committees and the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict; non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; and environment and climate change, all of which have significant and distinct women, peace and security considerations.
