Time for change and revival for the IANSA Women's Network

23 June 2013

We know it has been a while since you have received regular information and updates via our mailing list and this website but that is soon going to change!

As you may know, there have been some recent changes at IANSA. IANSA women have an important role to play as always, as the only international network focused on the connections between gender, women’s rights, small arms and armed violence.

The last 12 months have demonstrated the success of many years of our collective efforts. We have worked hard for the inclusion of gender considerations and women's participation in the UN small arms process (the Review Conference on the UN Programme of Action on SALW, September 2012), and for the inclusion of criterion on gender-based violence in the Arms Trade Treaty (March 2013). Yet of course there is still much more to be done to build on this progress.

The IANSA Women's Network is now being coordinated by Jasmin Galace, Ema Tagicakibau and Marren Akatsa Bukachi of the IANSA International Advisory Council.

We will do our best to inform, update and support you as we work together to strengthen the foundation for future projects and the ongoing work and campaigns of IANSA women worldwide.

Please bear with us as we prepare the next steps of the journey for the IANSA Women's Network. Do not hesitate to contact us with any comments or questions, please do share details of your work and activities, and let us know how you can help. Together we will go forward!
